French Language Camps 2008

Camp 1: 8 June - 21 June
Camp 2: 22 June - 5 July

Camps are for second level school students.
Full academic, cultural and sporting programme

Camps run Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 5.00pm. (Students bring packed lunches).
Two hours of French lessons daily. Small class sizes. Emphasis on communication skills. Personal tutoring.
Joint cultural and sporting activities with French schoolboys in the afternoons. Joint full-day excursion weekly.
Football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, orienteering, hiking, swimming, etc.

French & Irish student interaction

This French Camp is being organised in parallel with a English Camp for Irish school students. Irish and French students will receive classes separately in the mornings and have combined activities in the afternoons and evenings. Some activities will be orientated towards either French or English. While at other times, students will be left to mix freely, making friends with each other and learning from each other.

Students may continue on after the Camp for one or more weeks, by arrangement.

The fee covers French tuition, cultural, sporting and recreational activities organised in Gort Ard, and a full-day excursion weekly to places outside of Galway, for example to the Aran Islands, Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher, or to a west of Ireland adventure centre.

Residential option

Full-board accommodation is available in Gort Ard, in single or shared rooms.  This provides the maximum interaction with French boys, as it encompasses evenings and weekend activities together, aside from daily living together.  A real French Experience in Galway.

Trip to France

Optional summer trip to France is planned.
Details on request.

Sporting activities are the normal ones for students of their age. These include a number of adventure sports such as orienteering, hiking, swimming in the sea, etc. Unless otherwise indicated to us, parental permission for the boys to take part in these activities is presumed.
